How to Do 3 Impossible Things Before Breakfast on a Zero Budget

By Debbie A Johnston

My inner guidance was clear that I had a new mission, so I made three (award-winning, as it turned out) feature films in three years with no money to start with, no cell phone (I don't want an electronic leash, thank you!) and no film school. How? I imagined myself doing it and I stepped into the water. Yup, I just started casting roles, telling everyone I didn't know when we'd be filming, but I wanted to be ready. I started scouting locations and got a lot of them for free. I called non-profits to partner with them for premieres or screenings. In short, I did everything I could that didn't cost a dime, but I also imagined and believed. I knew I had a mission and I wasn't about to let reality get in my way, because I already knew the drill (See below). The money came, and eventually, even a Hollywood film distributor.

Previous to that I had published a booklet that a book distributor said was impossible to sell in bookstores (due to no spine) and certainly not for the price I was asking! I made it a best-seller via bookstores (displays!) The book was eventually bid for on auction via my agent and Disney's publisher, Hyperion, bid highest. They sold rights to Book of the Month Club (became a Best-in-Brief) and Harper Audio (for twice the normal bid).

What about the dreams you feel guided to do? Impossible? Or Possible. You decide. What do you want your life to look like by the end of next year? Imagine it done! It's that simple, but not everyone has the discipline to keep imagining the best and brightest every single day until it happens. Maybe you do. If so, great! If not, you can create that too!

Imagination trumps willpower every time, so even if you feel like you don't have a lot of discipline, imagine yourself having it! That's the whole secret to doing everything you want. The subconscious program works via images and if you want to program your subconscious computer, you use images, fueled with feeling. But not just any image, one that goes beyond even a movie image, one that uses all of your senses, such as smell, taste, and touch, along with hearing and seeing.
If you want to surpass even your wildest dreams, take the challenge, call yourself to you highest and start soaring with your God-given gift of creative imagination.

Just be ready to ride the roughest waves you may have ever hit, keep your oar steady, your attention on the prize, and your heart in the most positive, loving place you can. People who say that "positive thinking" is all it takes and have proven it to themselves also know instinctively how to face the challenges that will come when you set a higher goal, but now you know the secret, so go for it!
